A swirling, multicolored mass of blown glass, the "Wild Amber Chandelier With Tusks" artwork has hung in the display room at Salem's Riverfront Carousel for more than three years.
The chandelier is a 1996 creation by Chihuly. The 300-pound glass work measures 4-foot-5 by 5-foot-3. Insurance alone cost about $1,200 per year, which had been donated to the carousel.
Donna Callis of Independence, who was visiting the carousel last week with husband, Steve, and granddaughter Montana, 14 months, stopped to admire the horses in the display room.
