The RCMP is investigating a fraud that offers people a loan even if they have bad credit. After responding to an advertisement, people were asked to supply personal information as well as a fee for loan service.
"That kind of scam is something I haven't heard of for a little while, at least not in this neighbourhood," said Kaeding. "It does seem to go in waves. The people who are perpetrating the frauds will come up with a new idea and then they'll spin it across the country."

Pierre Schweda, executive director of the Regina Senior Citizens Centre, said his organization hosted a six-week seminar on safety and security.
The seminars are held because it's the type of information the seniors want. The seminars included members from the Regina Police Service and the Regina Home Economics for Living Project (HELP) about a month ago, said Schweda.
At the last session, members of the police service talked about how to keep safe from scams by not releasing personal information like a social insurance number or a credit card number.
"At the beginning of the year, we do a survey among the seniors and we ask them what kind of seminars they would like to have and we follow through," said Schweda.
On Tuesday, the Regina Police Service received information on an attempted fraud. In that instance, an elderly woman received a call from a person identifying himself as a bank inspector. The woman was asked to withdraw money from her bank account and turn it over to a representative who would then deposit it into another account.
