A 27-year-old Des Moines man who drives a taxicab for Budget Cab Co. reported that cabbies from two other companies threatened to harm him outside the Boom Boom Room because he didn't park in line with them, while waiting to transport people from the nightclub.
A 25-year-old Clive man was arrested for OWI after he was driving without headlights about 2 a.m. Tests revealed the man had a blood-alcohol concentration of .151 percent.
A 33-year-old Des Moines man was arrested on an outstanding Colorado warrant in the parking lot of the Val Air Ballroom after officers allegedly saw a group of people snorting drugs in a vehicle. A search of the vehicle found nothing illegal.
100 block of Windfield Parkway, April 7 - Police arrested a 17-year-old boy for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and underage alcohol possession. Police also arrested an 18-year-old man for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Hickman Road and Dartmoor Drive, April 9 - A West Des Moines man driving northbound on Dartmoor Drive struck a Guthrie Center driver heading eastbound on Hickman Road, causing an estimated $1,500 damage.
First block of Laurel Street, April 16 - Police arrested a 19-year-old Des Moines man for driving while suspended and cited him for having no proof of insurance.
Mark Alan Schroder was charged with third-offense OWI and child endangerment after police received a call about an intoxicated man with two children, later known to be ages 7 and 8, at Dairy Queen about 5:45 p.m., a police report says.
When an officer began following Schroder, the man quickly drove from the road into a parking lot in the 1900 block of Grand Avenue, running over a curb twice with his vehicle, the report said. Schroder then allegedly exited the vehicle without the two children, apparently to avoid contact with the officer.
